Financial Contributions

Money is Needed So We Rest in Peace
As with any non-profit program, money is needed.  Most critical are funds to support our children's basic need for food, shelter and health care.  As of June 2010, monthly expenses are 2,760,000 Tanzanian schillings, approximately $2045 per month.

Donations from outside of Moshi can be made in one of three ways:

1)  Send money via Western Union to:  Pamela Alphonce Kimario, Moshi, Tanzania.  SWIWSCO Treasurer.

2)  Via bank transfer:

Account Holder:  SWIWSCO
BOA Bank, Moshi Branch, Tanzania
ACCOUNT NUMBER: 3754510007 TZS
SWIFT CODE: EUAFTZTZ

When money is sent via #1 or #2, please advise Pamela at pamelaalphonce@yahoo.com .

3)  Children Growing (CG), the Watoto Project of Northern Tanzania.  CG is a USA-based non profit organization that partners with SWIWSCO to provide financial, technical and resource support.  Donations are tax deductible for U.S. citizens.  To make a donation via check or credit card, go to www.childrengrowing.org.

Sponsor a Child's Education

Picture
Fascinated with Books
While enrollment is free, children in primary school must purchase uniforms, supplies, shoes, bags, lunches and pay occasional service fees.  The cost to sponsor one child is 200,000 Tanzanian shillings per year, approximately $150.00.

Due to a number of factors, the quality of public primary school is quite poor.  While our preference is to enroll all children in private primary school, we recognize it is a difficult goal to achieve.  There are 5 children currently being sponsored in such schools.  The cost for private primary school is 1,240,000 Tanzanian schillings, approximately $920.00.

Secondary education is out of reach for most of Tanzania's poor.  In addition to costs for shoes, school bags and supplies, tuition fees are required.  The cost for secondary school is 340,000 Tanzanian schillings, approximately $252.00.

Wish List

Playing Soccer in Front of SWIWSCO
The most critical need is money to cover the shelter and food costs for the kids.  Beyond that, there are several items we would like to have to enhance and expand our children's program:

1)  Van for basic transportation needs and to pick up the children who live at home so they can spend weekends with their SWIWSCO friends.
2) Financial support to allow us to complete clearing and fencing of the land in front of SWIWSCO to be used as a recreational and footbal field for the SWIWSCO children and their neighbors ($700).
3)  Laptop Computers so the children can begin learning the technology and communicate with friends they've established through a pen pal program.
4)  Soccer shoes and uniforms (just shirts will do) so kids can establish teams.
5) Financial support for a local English teacher to tutor secondary school kids.
6) Financial support for a local music teacher who can create performance venues.
7)
Financial support for an art teacher for the children.
8) Financial sponsorship of 6 children identified as exceptionally gifted and intelligent who would particularly benefit from being in private primary school (1,240,000 Tsh or $920 per year).
9)  Solar cooking stoves or fuel efficient stoves.
9) Farmland in the Moshi vicinity (see the Children's Village vision).
